Body odour does not come from sweat itself. It appears when the microorganisms on your skin break sweat down and produce the compounds you can smell. This deodorant works on that process from several directions at once, without aluminium.

How this deodorant reduces odour

Your underarm is home to a large number of bacteria. Some of them are skin-friendly, others turn sweat into an unpleasant smell. The active ingredient here is a prebiotic extract from the red kapok flower (Bombax costatum), which grows in West Africa. Put simply, it feeds the helpful bacteria so they can thrive and crowd out the odour-forming ones. Less odour forms in the first place.

Clinical results published by the supplier of the raw material:

• In a 28-day clinical study (roll-on deodorant, 27 men), the ratio of skin-friendly to odour-forming bacteria (Staphylococcus/Corynebacterium) rose by up to +489%, roughly six times, and was twice as high as with placebo.
• The volume of odour-causing volatile compounds (VOC) was 56.8% lower than placebo after 24 hours. Among individual compounds, acetic acid (vinegar note) fell 50.9%, butyric acid (rancid note) 58.2% and valeric acid (sweaty socks note) 65.2%.
• Microbiome-friendly: the active ingredient does not reduce the overall amount or the diversity of the underarm microflora, so the natural ecosystem of your skin stays intact.
• In laboratory testing, the adhesion of the main odour-forming bacterium (Corynebacterium xerosis) to the skin surface fell by up to 92%.
