Facial care morning and evening – how do they differ and what does your skin need?

Our skin comes into contact with various irritants every day, and its support and protection is thoughtful, conscious facial care. However, the morning and evening routines should not be exactly the same, because they serve different purposes.

Morning care supports the skin and a beautiful complexion that lasts all day

In the morning we can prepare the skin for what awaits it during the day – be it environmental pollution, UV radiation or other influences. These can all trigger processes in the skin known as oxidative stress. Both internal and external factors are behind this, but it is daily exposure to UV radiation and pollution in particular that can affect the skin cells especially strongly. The free radicals that form under such conditions often accelerate the skin’s ageing and cause dullness and dryness.

Morning facial care is an important step that helps the skin cope better with the day’s external influences and maintain a healthy, fresh complexion all day long.

Evening facial care supports the skin’s renewal

At night, natural recovery processes take place in the skin. Increased blood supply brings more oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells. In addition, cell division speeds up and the skin begins to recover from the damage that occurred during the day.

For this process to be effective, it is important to remove the dirt and make-up that has accumulated on the skin throughout the day before going to bed. It is also important to provide the skin with the nutrients it needs through facial care that supports overnight renewal.

The Neroli facial care range

Nurme believes that the best care is created when nature meets science. It was from this conviction that our Neroli facial care range was born in our laboratory – science-based, with natural ingredients and mindful of the skin’s natural needs. The Neroli range has been dermatologically tested on sensitive skin, confirming its suitability even for the most delicate skin.

Creating the range was a conscious and thorough process. It took about a year and a half to develop. The path to the final result was full of trials and refinements, because we wanted to achieve a solution we would be completely satisfied with. Each ingredient was carefully chosen, taking into account the skin’s natural needs and the synergy of the ingredients.

Next, we explain step by step how you can support your skin with the quality products of the Neroli range, both morning and evening. Facial care is an especially pleasant way of pampering yourself and a good deed for yourself. We recommend making it a daily habit, because consistent care brings results that are worth the dedication.

🌞 Morning facial care: preparing the skin for the day

Step 1: gentle facial cleansing with Neroli cleansing foam

At night the skin produces sebum and sweat and releases waste products. Gentle cleansing helps wake the skin up in the morning and prepares it for the next steps of facial care.

Nurme Neroli facial cleansing foam contains neroli and babassu oil and provitamin B5 (panthenol). These help remove impurities from the skin without drying it out, while supporting the skin’s moisture barrier and keeping the complexion radiant. In addition, neroli oil is known for its skin-refreshing properties.

Step 2: Neroli micellar water for extra cleansing and toning

Micellar water helps remove even the last traces of dirt that have accumulated overnight and tones the skin. Neroli facial water contains hyaluronic acid, which helps maintain the skin’s moisture, and provitamin B5, which calms the skin and makes it soft.

Neroli oil helps regulate sebum production, which makes it excellent for the care of acne-prone skin too.

Why is this step important? Clean and toned skin is more receptive to the next care steps, meaning creams and serums absorb better and are more effective.

Step 3: Neroli moisturising day cream

As we already know, the skin needs protection from external factors during the day. Neroli day cream moisturises, smooths and protects the skin thanks to a powerful combination of antioxidants and restorative active ingredients. The cream is also excellent under make-up, because it absorbs quickly and does not leave the skin greasy.

Did you know which ingredients are in Nurme creams, and what their benefits are in our facial care?

PS. Don’t forget sunscreen!
Studies have shown that UV radiation causes up to 80% of the skin’s premature ageing. (Krutmann et al., 2017)

🌙 Evening facial care: recovery and deep care

Step 1: cleansing cream foam to remove make-up and dirt

The day’s dust, pollution, sunscreen and make-up – all of this needs to be removed from the skin before going to sleep.

Neroli cleansing cream foam is rich in vitamins A, C and E and neroli and passion fruit extract, which cleanse and care for the skin. In addition, vitamins A and C contribute to collagen production and evening out the skin tone.

Step 2: micellar water as a double cleanse

After the creamy cleanse, micellar water helps remove all the smaller residues and calms the skin before the nourishing night cream. This step is especially useful for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Step 3: collagen-renewing Neroli night cream

Evening skin care focuses on the skin’s recovery. At night the skin is in renewal mode and can better absorb deeply moisturising and nourishing ingredients.

Neroli night cream contains vitamins C and E, passion fruit and neroli oil. These all help restore collagen, improve elasticity and keep the skin youthful. The result is more radiant, smoother and more vital skin already when you wake up in the morning – naturally.

Why does it work? Night creams contain more active ingredients, because the skin rests at night and does not have to fight the day’s stress factors. Instead, while resting, it can be receptive to the creams that absorb and to their necessary active ingredients.

Extra care with natural oils

The natural oils in Nurme’s range are an excellent support in both the morning and evening facial care routine. Carefully chosen oils can help maintain the moisture balance without making the skin excessively greasy. They help lock moisture into the skin and protect it against various influences. Such oils are especially valuable in cold and dry weather and for ageing and sensitive skin.

How to use oils? The oil can be applied to the skin after serum, or mixed with a cream. For oily skin a few drops may be enough, but dry skin sometimes needs more moisture. In that case, use a larger amount of oil.

🟡 Avocado oil: ideal for mature skin, helps with collagen renewal and soothes irritated skin. It locks in moisture and calms the skin. Tip: avocado oil is also excellent for hair care!

🟡 Jojoba oil: one of the most popular, versatile and beloved oils in skin care. It has a composition similar to the skin’s own sebum, which helps restore the skin’s natural balance. Suitable for both oily and dry skin.

🟡 Argan oil: rich in antioxidants and fatty acids, deeply moisturising and smooths the signs of ageing. Absorbs quickly, does not clog the pores. Suitable for the face, hair and body alike.

Take time for yourself and give your skin what it needs. Facial care does not have to be a long or complicated undertaking, but it should be conscious and consistent.

Our skin needs a different approach during the day and at night. In the morning, protection and moisture; in the evening, recovery and effective cleansing. The Nurme Neroli range offers clean-formulation support for every step. All of this with consciously chosen clean ingredients, to take care of the skin.

Specialist feedback:

“For me, skin care is one of the most exciting topics, and what led me to it was my own sensitive and fussy facial skin. I have a combination, acne-prone and also sensitive skin type. Quite a lot of products give me pimples, and some specific ingredients in products don’t suit my skin at all. My skin’s condition certainly also depends on hormones, the season, diet, age and so on. From Nurme’s products, however, I have found favourites that I use at certain specific times. For example, I really liked the Neroli cleansing cream foam, exactly when my skin was on the drier side (in winter), because for oilier skin it somehow felt like too much. It does exactly what a first-step cleanser should do. It nicely removes both everyday make-up and evening make-up – and there are no so-called ‘panda eyes’ left under the eyes from mascara. I also liked using the Neroli facial cleansing foam in summer, which left the skin pleasantly cleansed, but in winter again, when the skin was drier, I wanted something more moisturising. The Neroli day and night creams were too much for my skin; they seem to be intended more for drier skin. Every skin type is different, so I recommend figuring out which ingredients in facial care products your skin loves. For me, the two most important things I watch for are that the facial wash contains a humectant like glycerin and that the cream contains shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii Butter), and both of these are nicely present in Nurme’s products. I also used products meant for oily skin when I was younger, but now products for combination skin. I use different products in winter and summer too, because the skin’s needs change. There are the right products for everyone; you just have to get to know your skin a little and experiment with products.”
